Layla Mendez has always been in love with her best friend Kiran Evans. Knowing each other since middle school they were inseparable until he left for a Doctor's Without Borders position right after his Medical Internship.

Now, four years later, Kiran comes back to the States to give his long time best friend news...news that will shatter her heart forever.

Kiran gulped as he stared into Amelia's eyes but didn't say a word. His eyes lifted looking over her shoulder meeting my watery ones. Why would he look at me?

Looking back at her he stuttered. "I...I..."

"Kiran, answer the question." I hear the bitch say. I knew she was getting nervous with the possibility of him actually walking away.

Sighing, he looks at me with sad eyes. The eyes that told me that he was 'sorry' for the decision he was about to make.

"Amelia, I love you. You have made me happy for the past three years...I d-"
