Layla Mendez has always been in love with her best friend Kiran Evans. Knowing each other since middle school they were inseparable until he left for a Doctor's Without Borders position right after his Medical Internship.

*I stood there trying to hold my tears in as I watch the man that I ever truly loved about to recite his vowels to another woman. How could I so naively believe that after all these years he would actually realize that he was in love with me?
It was too late. I said my peace to him a few days ago and he was still marrying her. How could he NOT see that she was nothing but a fraud?
