Intelligence.
That's what it takes for a human to live now. If you don't have that, there is no way for you to survive. Stupidity is a luxury of the past, something that even I took for granted two years ago. I thought that I was one of, if not the smartest person in the world, full of myself and arrogant. It wasn't until I was thrust into action, unprepared and petrified, that I realized I was hardly better than the very people I mocked for their idiocy. I wished and wished that every stupid person on the planet would vanish, and I guess that in a sick and twisted way, my prayers were answered.
I'm honestly not quite sure how it all changed. I have no access to the internet, or books. There isn't a single way for me to gather information besides asking around. No one else has much of a clue either, so chances are I'll never quite figure it out. But I do know, that a comet (meteor?) of some kind hit Earth. The radiation spread like the plague, and in a sense, that's what it was. Some were immune, others not. Immunity may sound like a blessing, but it is nothing but a curse. Those who were affected by it, gained God-like powers. Amazing abilities that we humans could only dream of having. What was once our world, is now theirs.
In a world run by Gods, we humans are nothing shy of useless. The ones who manage to escape the God's ruthless slaughter are known as Runners. There aren't many of us left, and those who remain are the ones who are smart enough to hide, and when need be, able enough to run. Fighting is useless, that, the dead have learned well. My name is Victoria, I have been a Runner for two years, and if the quickening footsteps nearing me are any indication, I may not make it to three. All Rights Reserved
