Disclaimer-- Yes, this is titled the family jewels. No, it is not about genitals. Sorry. Now for the real stuff: My fingers fumbled through the drawers, searching for what I already knew was gone. I opened one after another, only to find that everything was in it's rightful place, just like it had been before. At last my hand landed on the latch of the top drawer, and it rolled open quickly. Through the darkness of my thought, my eyes recognized a small box in the corner that I would have otherwise overlooked. I lifted the top off of the box, holding the base in the palm of my hand, and seethed with rage when a small charm was revealed, surrounded by a layer of foam protecting it from getting damaged. The jewelry box felt like ice in my hand, burning my skin so much that I was sure it would leave a mark. I threw the box back and slammed the drawer shut with force powered by anger. Then, just as suddenly, I was surrounded by a thick coat of silence. I needed to record every detail of my surroundings so I wouldn't forget. No, I couldn't forget all of this again, at least that was what Ryder told me. He said that even though it probably didn't make any sense to me, I had to write it down, that way I would remember, and I would be able to figure out what was going to happen next. I had to be able to know what was going to attack me and how before the attacker even knew that he was going to. None of it made that much sense to me, but I knew that Ryder wanted to keep me safe. I knew I wanted to protect him, my race... and myself.

When Ivy Lancaster, a young and successful publisher, saves a family farm in an old rundown town, her life is flipped on its axis. Her charity puts her on the radar of the man who runs all of Sin Sity. His gang has had the city on lockdown for years, and he's at the heart of it all. And now, she's been pulled into this life too. One she never expected. The one she'd only read about in books. Alongside him and his bestfriend, she'll have to learn how to survive this new life she's been pulled into. Or go back to the mundane, calm life at her desk. And she's not sure which is worse. **** I know I shouldn't. I know I should be disgusted by the thought of his hands on me. He is a killer. He's psychotic. He's forcing me to be here. And yet, I can't make myself pull away. I can't tell him to stop. Sin's fingers dip lower, playing with the lace barely covering my skin. I throw my head back against his chest, his gun still digging into my back. My eyes catching Arrows again. He hasn't moved. But his fists clench at his sides. And I wonder what it would feel like to have him pressed against my front with Sin at my back. God, what the fuck, Ivy? Why am I letting this happen? "I know you're wet for me, baby girl." Sin murmurs into my ear. "Wet for us." 'Fuck, I'm screwed' I think as Sin's fingers slip under my panties.
