A young pregnant couple is faced with an unprecedented run of bad luck, but at each turn for the worse, a strange little man is there to help them out. The problem is, he always wants something in return...

The little man was the beneficiary of their misery, and she desperately wants to get a hold of him before the adoption becomes irrevocable.  But she has nowhere to start - she doesn't even know his name.
