When her family dies in an accident in town Eslinn knows what she has to do to get away from the memories. She cuts off her long hair and joined the confederate Army.
Jasper had to train Kellen Cooper as his second in command, Kellen had not only persuaded people to look past her girlish face but also to appreciate her fighting Skills. One night Jasper heads down to the quarry to talk to "Kellen" only to find Eslinn. They are bound by a secret and something much more ancient.
When they are evacuationg the woman and children in Galvistan where they meet Maria who knows what they truly are. She changes Jasper and recruited Eslinn as his second in command.
