Zara Anderson's past isn't full of smiles, laughter, and love. It's the complete opposite actually. Every night she has nightmares of the tortures that were given to her and the punishments she didn't deserve. At her old school everyone judged her on what they thought she did, but know one really knew the truth about it. Now her and her aunt are moving from a big city in New York to a small town in Maryland. Maybe things for Zara will change for the best, or make her life even more of a living hell. It's called the past for a reason, you can't change it or undo it, you can only close your eyes and wish it never happens again.

When Zara wakes up in the Glade with no memory of her past, she's thrust into a dangerous world surrounded by boys who've spent years trying to solve the Maze that traps them. As she navigates the Glade, Zara quickly proves herself resourceful, brave, and determined to uncover the truth-qualities that catch the attention of both her fellow Gladers and the Maze itself. But something about Zara is different. Strange flashes of memories haunt her, and a mysterious connection to Thomas sets her apart from the others. When the rules of the Maze start to change, and deadly threats like the Grievers invade their fragile sanctuary, Zara must decide whether to step up as a leader or risk losing everything. As secrets unravel, alliances are tested, and sacrifices are made, Zara discovers that the Maze is just the beginning. Her connection to the organization behind it all might hold the key to their survival-or doom them all.
