Centuries have passed since the days of the seven continents. Our ancestors were too blind to see the damage they were doing to the planet. Droughts and floods distorted the land masses. Terrorism spread throughout countries. Population increased until there was nowhere left for people to live. But from the ruins of Earth rose Colosca and Eurania, two governments always fighting, always battling. It never stopped. Fifteen-year-old Jane Liena lives in the 32nd province of Colosca with her younger brother and her father, a drunk. Her mother was killed in the terrorist attack in 3129, leaving Jane to support her family. Near the river in her two acre lot she finds comfort and safety with her best friend Ben. But she knows what's coming. She knows that in less than a month's time, the two year drafting will occur. Someone from her family, every family, will be drafted into Colosca's army. And she dreads that second year.
