Max DiAngelo has always been an outcast as an orphan, but when she turns 12 strange lumps appear on her back and the bullies are worser than ever. But when she meets Evan and Jace, two boys so alike to her, they become close friends and help her with the bullies. Some mysterious men come immediately the next day to take her and her new found friends to a new school full of kids with the same 'condition'. Max immediatly fits in and makes many new friends. When Max moves to this new school, things change and she finally figures out the truth. 
But will it be for the better or for worse?
