When you are born you have a mark, a tattoo of sorts, that tells weather you are good or evil and your powers and personality are based off of them. The only catch is you don't know what it means until after you figure it out. You can only guess until you get it right.
Britt Stevenson is sixteen years old has been in and out of juvenile detention centers since she was fourteen. Now Britt has been put in a mental institution. She has not figured out her mark but the one thing she knows is that she is evil. Everyone else believes it as well.
Irwin Gordon knows his powers and knows he is good. He has always been a straight A student forever. He has never gotten in trouble and his only visits to the principle's office have been for good things.
Beckett Hepburn is in a mental hospital for bipolar disorder. He still doesn't know his powers and is to confused to tell weather he is good or evil. He hasn't let anyone in since his parents dropped him off and they never came back. That was tree years ago.
When their paths somehow cross they realize everything they thought about themselves and the world around them is wrong. Now they have to figure out a way to work together and to learn everything they thought they new about the world they live in.

Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away.
