Lilapsiphobia

Lilapsophobia:
Lilapsophobia is an abnormal fear of tornadoes or hurricanes. Lilapsophobia is considered the more severe type of astraphobia, which is a fear of thunder and lightning.

Most people in Oklahoma don't have this problem, given the fact that they're used to it. I, on the other hand, will lay down in their closet and sob at just a tornado watch. My name is Lucy Heartfillia. I'm 17 years old, I live in El Reno Oklahoma. I attend Fairy Tail high school as a Junior. And I have Lilapsophobia. When I was a little girl, a tornado, an EF5 tore through my hometown. Many people lost their lives that day. Including my mom. My father and I have been alone, and I cringe at just watching a video of a tornado. Thankfully, my father is there to help me through it all. I never thought I would meet someone in Oklahoma with the same problem as me. I still haven't, But I did meet someone with quite the unusual fear. He knows my pain, he experienced what I went through but not quite in the same way.

This story is dedicated to anyone who may have survived or lost someone in the 1999 El Reno OK monster or the 2011 Joplin MO tornado or to anyone who has Lilapsiphobia like me. Please know that even if you're scared, you will make it through.
