The kingdom of Istamid is under the tyrannical rule of dragons, but there are still places where the dragons' presence isn't felt so strongly. One such place is the mountain village of Arlow. However, the residents of the village have problems of their own. Namely, the violent snowstorms. Everyone aside from Rhenor seems to think that they will blow over and that they just have to wait it out, but Rhen suspects there is something more going on. His concerns fall on deaf ears until a stranger named Kaz shows up at his door, who not only believes Rhen, but also reveals an even bigger threat looming over Arlow-earthquakes. Despite Rhen's reservations about how Kaz knows this, the two embark on a quest to put a stop to whatever is causing all of this and save Arlow before it becomes nothing but rubble. Glass Magic REWRITTEN
Glass magic, the weakest of magic, the most fragile, the least effective. Those with it always end up with aide or aid class and a relief type. They were the ones to deal with the aftermath of war, helping those that had already severed their kingdom and those that had yet to come of age. They never face actual war, never risking their life as it was not a life worth risking. It was hardly a life at all. Now, there are also classes that seem limited to certain standing, take the rogue class for example; they are restricted to support and assassin types. Their sly personalities and strange magic perfect for stealing and stealth. Then lead types, bland beings really, always the same people, warrior class, elemental magic, blah blah blah. Though humans are uncommon within the lead types it's not as if one had heads turning in disbelieve. Uncommon but not rare. Boring really. Everyone's always so restricted with their magic, type, class, and rank, and yet... She exists. With a magic so fragile she shouldn't even be allowed in war, a class that doesn't match her personality, and a type that clearly doesn't belong to her. The only thing that seemed to be correct was her rank, F, the lowest. I wonder... Will she thrive with her standing? Or with she burn in the chaos of it? Why don't we find out? REWRITTENComplete

Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. And frankly, Gwyneth and Azriel could both use a little magic. All characters owned by SJM in the ACOTAR series. Story takes place after the events of ACOSF. Aligns with the events in my other fic: A Storm of Flames and Deceit. I haven't finished Crescent City, so this story takes place outside of the events of those books as well. Still as humanity's eyes became more numerous and their civilizations grew, the fae got ready for their eventual discovery. That was the plan, until the day that monsters spilled forth from the mountain. The fae had convinced themselves over the ages that the human monster war was just a fable. A horrible nightmarish fairy tale, because if a race called monsters didn't stand a chance against the humans then what chance did the delicate fae have against them? One thing was obvious though, The fae folk needed to reach out to the monsters and secure a relationship before anyone else, there survival depended on it.Complete
