Loud noises rung around the forest bursting fog everywhere. But then it cleared to show a pail lady with an extraordinary smile and curious purple eyes. The breeze made her lavender pixie hair wave to her left. For Dobu this looked like an adventure.

Nothing could compare to the way her gaze made me feel. The flames licking my skin and the raging fire in my veins was way more bearable. The car hummed softly as it glided down the empty road, the fading sunlight painting the horizon in streaks of orange and purple. Inside, the cabin was a mix of light chatter and the faint buzz of the radio. The seats were warm from hours of sitting, and the scent of fast food wrappers mixed with pine air freshener lingered in the small, confined space. Dad's hands gripped the wheel, knuckles white with focus as he navigated the winding road leading deep into the forest. His salt-and-pepper hair caught the occasional gleam from the dashboard lights. Mom sat in the passenger seat, flipping through the map with a mix of curiosity and mild irritation, her voice soft but stern as she double-checked their route. In the backseat, Lily was slumped against the window, her breath fogging up the glass as she dozed off. Her stuffed animal-a well-loved bear with a patchy ear-rested in her lap. I sat beside her, feeling the hum of the road beneath us, trying to distract myself from the ache of the long drive by scrolling aimlessly on my phone, even though we were already out of signal range. The forest thickened as we drove deeper, the trees casting long, skeletal shadows over the dirt road. The air outside seemed different-cooler, quieter, almost unnervingly still. By the time we pulled up to the cabin, the world felt heavy, as though something unseen was watching us. The cabin itself looked like it had been forgotten by time-a small wooden structure with a slanted roof, faded green shutters, and a single dim light glowing on the porch. The Final Smile
Raymond hadn't taken five steps when the sack suddenly moved. He froze instantly and his skipping heart started running a hundred meter race. He tried to bring down his fear by blaming the wind for the occurrence but the sack moved again, very softly, and he knew that whatever is inside that sack is responsible for the movements. He discarded his fear and moved towards the sack. He looked around in utmost fear hoping that some of the scenes in Hollywood movies would not manifest; where police men would round up good Samaritans assuming them to be murderers. The environment was utterly dark and he could not see anything asides bushes. He reached down and pulled down the loose top of the sack and what manifested before him was the face of a human being. His heart almost stopped from fear as his prediction had become reality. Raymond's breathing was not coordinated at all and he had gone pale. The face was slightly covered with mud but the entire hair was immersed in it. From the hair, he knew it had to be a girl so he pulled the sack down to the waist line of the body with his shivering hands. He looked up and nearly died of fright when he met the eyes of the girl slightly open and in his direction. He started wondering if she was a spirit or a witch sent to kill him but then he saw how pale she looked and warded off his vague thought. He glimpsed a thick mass of blood on her stomach and winced internally. She started moving uncomfortably and seemed to be doing that unconsciously. He hurriedly pulled out the sack and threw it into the bush. Without even considering the risk of picking her up, he whisked her into his arms and made for his car.
