We're almost halfway through Pride month, and I'm just now deciding to start writing this. Oh, what is "this," you ask? It's my at-least-10,000-word-story for Just Write It.
Mallory. She's a freshman this year, so everything is kind of stressful; a new school, new people, and a ton of new problems. Especially since we all know high school is where any semblance of innocence goes to die a violent, fiery death. But she's determined to survive, even if she fails the first 27 times.
Alex. He's a junior, so he knows his way around the school... for the most part. He's gotten lost a few times, but luckily he still has that map. If only life had a map to show you where to turn, what to do if you accidentally walk through Annoying-Preps' Territory, stuff like that. But his blue hair doesn't really help him blend in... not that his not-so-secrets would've done a better job.
Isabella, poor Isabella. If you knew her back as a freshman, maybe an eighth grader, you might be wondering why we're calling her Isabella instead of Isaiah, but to answer that question, it's because she's Trans*. Luckily, her parents understood and she started hormone therapy over the summer, but it leads to some questions and... worse situations... at school. She's always been an introvert, but now it's almost necessary if she wants to see her senior year.
Callum; he's that jock who actually isn't the guy asking dumb questions in class. In fact, he's a bit hard on everyone about getting things done and being organized. Maybe it's to keep his identity a secret, because we all know how there's so much stigma surrounding the LGBT+ community and sports...
Then there's Marina, the blind kid who will legit punch you in the face if you mess with her. She's kind of nerdy, but she'd rather read a Braille Bible than talk to you. Sophomore year is tough, but she's tougher.
Finally, there's Sean. You've heard of nerdy Asians, right? Well, he's the lazy-sarcastic Asian, who's still smarter.
Ella is falling apart trying to live a "perfect" high school life. Then she meets Ren, who can see past her scars. Suddenly perfection isn't her only option.

Ella Volkov is a gifted music student, but she's depressed and starting to crack under the pressure of high school. Her overbearing father won't even let her choose what instrument she plays. Then she finds herself alone at a party with Ren, her best friend's crush. She'd always thought he was rude, but after that night he's all Ella can think about. Now she's trapped. If Ella dates Ren, it will ruin her friendship with Jenny. But if she stays true to Jenny, she's losing the one person who can see past her scars. It's up to Ella to decide if she will forge her own path, or stay in the "perfect" box designed for her...
