This is a prequel and re-write of the series inheritance, In the first book we learn that Brom- a storyteller was in fact a dragon rider. However there is not much chance to reveal his past or his secret love with Eragon's mother before he dies. This is my imaginary version of his childhood and adventures of being a dragon rider and how I think the rest of the first book should have gone.

Dragon Riders
I grew up in a world where dragon riders were revered for not only their bravery and looks, but also for their intelligence. Children would spend days on end studying just in the hopes that they would get accepted to the Rider School, and those who did get accepted left their homes like kings, followed with respect and well wishes. It had been years since a dragon rider had been accepted in the Rider School from my town, which was understandable since we boasted a population of only 100 kids in the acceptable age range. Every year we were visited by the Counselor, the man who decided who would be accepted, and every year at that time our town lit up. Festivities lasted the Counselor's whole stay, with competitions to test children's intelligence, stamina, strength, and looks set up to look like games. Every year my brothers and I would be disappointed by our results, until my 15th year, when everything changed.... Shadow of a Shade
Addiane found her life to be comfortable enough. She may not have known her family, but she was fed and taken care of by those she lived with. She rarely feared for her life, and she was being taught valuable life lessons by those around her. Of course, training to be a Dragon Rider under the Shadeslayer himself, the first proper Rider in a long time, was a major bonus. Kumaglak is a normal six year old kid from a village in Arctica, one of the six continents in the world Erdas. He is the son of Chief Tuktu one of the three chiefs of Arctica, and is future chief of his village. But his future changes when a mysterious woman who claims to be a Dragon Rider, legendary warriors who protected Erdas, but disappear about 88 years ago and no one has seen them since. When the woman presents him a silver dragon egg and it hatches Kumaglak becomes one of the legendary warriors who swore to protect Erdas, and know Kumaglak must take up the mantel with two other kids from Erdas. Kaya is a six year old from Arctica and younger twin sister to her older twin brother Korren, and future chief of Arctica. Kaya has always stayed in the shadows not wanting to be seen as Korren's little sister. She wanted to be something more. She wanted to be a Dragon Rider after she heard the stories about them from some traders from Eura, who come to Arctica to trade with the villages. Kaya's prayers to Suka the Polar Bear, one of the fifteen Great Beasts, are answered when a woman claiming to be Dragon Rider comes to their village. When Kaya touches a dark purple dragon egg and it hatches Kaya becomes one of the legendary Dragon Riders. Nimue is a non important six year old from Oceanus. She is always swimming in the ocean where she feels comfortable, but on land with people she never feels comfortable, especially when the so called people are whispering about her calling her a freak and a witch. Nimue wanted to get away from her old life and her parents. She spent almost every waking moment in the ocean to get away from her village. Nimue's wish however comes true when she touches a dark blue dragon egg from a Dragon Rider, and it hatches for her. This a fanfic of Wings of Fire, Spirit Animals, and The Inheritance Cycle. Dragon Reincarnated (Working title)
As an avid- and fairly unsuccessful- writer of fantasy fiction, I know that dragons are pretty much the pinnacle of existence. I dare anyone to argue. So, when my mundane existence comes to an end and I am offered a choice of whatever race I liked upon reincarnating into a fantasy world, of course I chose dragon. Little did I know that my life as a dragon would take more than its fair share of twists and turns. But hey, I was a dragon... Everyone knows you don't mess with dragons. This is the next one to be added up on Royal Road in a couple days, once Broken's current chapters are done being added :)
