Katarina stumbled as she took a step back, keeping her eyes fixed on Cain. Why was he suddenly acting so different?
"No, you've never wondered," he said quietly, his voice like honey. "You're too innocent to wonder, but I know. It's why I chose you, dear girl. It's why you set me free."

Katarina Durante's family has been in the supernatural hunting business for centuries, dating all the way back to the eleventh century at least. She's the odd one out in her family, refusing to kill things, good or evil. She's far more inclined to sit back and do research on supernatural phenomena, while studying magic on the side. What else can a fourteen year old witch do?
But her friendship with an old supernatural being, marked to be the most evil and dangerous being in existence, is unnerving for her family, especially as she's finally put into the field on a case. As exciting as this is for the rest of her family, she yearns for something else, something more than just hunting. Something along the lines of true love, evil being or not.
