Ordeals of the Western Kingdom: The Mage in the East

Brandon is heir to his father's title and fortune. His father, Darren Kardane, is a prominent Lord in the King's Court. To Brandon, Darren cares more about the king's affairs than him and his brother, Ben. Although the youth of sixteen keeps his father in high regard, there are only two people in the kingdom Brandon would do anything for: Ben and and the bastard of one of the king' daughters, who is secretly his child too. Panic soon arises throughout the city, as a southern army is amassing and heading north. While the army doesn't pose much of a threat, the southerners have a secret weapon. They have the assistance of a mage who has the power to single-handedly wipe out thousands of men. When hope seems lost, Brandon finds a possible solution - a mage east of the Great Sea. When the king does not listen Brandon, it seems that the lives of everyone he knows are in the hands of him and Ben.
