This is a fairy tale I wrote in the style of the Grimm brothers and Hans Christian Anderson.
I've always been a huge fan of Old World fairy tales and really tried to capture the spirit of them here. I'll leave up to you whether or not I succeeded.
The central theme here mostly revolves around the realities of getting older and the lengths to which some people may go to cling to their youth.
Come to think of it, that's been a recurring theme in most of my short fiction, haha.
Perhaps I'm just as freaked out about getting older as my characters XD

A Touch of Magic
"Usually innocents like you have time to grow into their magic before they have to break the rules. You don't have that time, Minta. Please believe me, you need to be ready. I'm risking everything to make you ready." I stopped and searched his eyes for further explanation, and there was a near moment of clarity before Edgar looked away, releasing me gently. "Risk what, Edgar?" A Touch of Magic... Minta has a choice; she can turn away from magic or embrace it. Desperate for a destiny, it's a no brainer. Guided by the cat who's been following her around, and her dead aunt's sidekick Gladys Jones, Minta begins by fixing problems with bullies, and finding Prince Charming for her b.f.f. Who'd of thought there were so many Cinderella's in need of makeovers? It's not long before Minta wants change her own romantic fortunes too (it's worked for everyone else). But life is never that simple and as Minta grapples with her future, there are others trying to stop her from having one. But who and why? Minta hasn't a clue. Though she does have her suspicions about the cat... Eventually, sacrificing her own (and very human) desires to follow her path, Minta's destiny becomes clear; this is a story of self-belief and resolution, first crushes & love (and the journey towards grasping the difference). Home Sweet Home
Gretel never had much of an interest in magic, not really. The inn she runs just happens to be made out of candy. But that design choice was made by the home's previous occupant, the witch Agatha, who had tried to steal the youthful bodies of Gretel and her brother Hansel. The witch had misused her magic though, and as punishment the house took away her human form and trapped her inside of a gingerbread one. Gretel has big dreams though. She wants to expand their little cottage into the finest set of lodgings in all of Germany. Money is an issue. As are the tricks Agatha plays against on the customers, always trying to worm her way back into a human form. The money problem could be solved by a wealthy investor, such as her neighbor Thomas, but that man only has one thing on this mind. And then the war came. Across the border the French have overthrown their King and established something called a Republic. German troops march west to avenge the death of their Emperor's brother-in-law and Hansel has marched with them. What's more the magic in the house is fading. The witch Agatha says it needs a new Master to make new rules and new spells, or else it will melt away into nothing. But is Gretel up to the task?Complete

No grownups, elders, guardians, or parents were present. Only children, and not only that, but cursed, enchanted children. A cursed, enchanted universe indeed; where these children live independently and passionately as princesses, vampires, witches, wizards, ghosts, and several other wonders. As a result, Natsu is expelled from the guild. But he doesn't leave alone, his best friends, Happy and Lucy, join him. They train together so they can come back even stronger than they were before. But the three of them weren't completely alone on this journey. It's set in Odense, Denmark, in the late summer of 1818-- soon after Hans' mother, a poor washerwoman, remarried (two years after his father's death) and shortly before he was sent to a school for poor children where he had to support himself. Where he became, to be able to afford his schooling, first a weaver's, then a tailor's apprentice, a singer, an actor and finally, once his excellent soprano voice changed, a writer. Hans and Louise, his (fictional) step-sister, seek refuge from a summer storm in an old shed. There, they meet Rosalind, a lost Flower Fairy. When they decide to help her find the Butterfly Fairy boy she loves and intends to marry, she takes them into a fantastical world of Terra Sonalis, her home. A land of dreams populated by fairies, goblins, elves, mermaids, talking animals... All those mysterious creatures that fuelled Andersen's imagination for the rest of his life. ☆☆☆Complete

Carmen had always found her life as a daughter of an antique shop owner to be ordinary and adventure-less. Almost all of the members in her town think she's odd and the richest man in town wants to marry her, but she wants something else. One evening on a business trip she and her father get lost in an old almost abandoned castle. However they are not welcomed and the beast who lives there let's them know that right away. Carmen begs for her fathers freedom and the beast allows him to live if his only daughter agrees to live the rest of her life in this castle with the beast. Carmen agrees to live with the beast in his castle and as time goes on she begins to realize that this castle and the beast himself are not all that seem to be.
