This was a short story assignment that I wrote a few months ago. The requirements were to write a short story maximum of 4 pages that included a dream or daydream. These also had to be a "trigger" to bring the character in and out of the dream. I decided to take the idea of a dream-related story and wrote my assignment through the eyes of a schizophrenic patient in a mental hospital.All Rights Reserved

Diana is falling apart at the seams. After she graduates high school, her parents kick her off their insurance and, no longer able to afford her medication for her bipolar disorder, turns to street drugs as a relief. Nobody in her life is in a rush to get her out of it. Then she overdoses. She ends up in a hospital, because she's terrified if she doesn't, she'll go to jail. While she's there, Diana meets a number of women who have all been abandoned to the system like her, and people she would normally hate become close, if temporary, friends. With their help, recovery doesn't seem so far away, after all. Over the Wall: A Collection of Short Stories (NaNoWriMo 2014) by emmernemmer

This year for NaNoWriMo, I am writing a short story anthology. It will feature thirty or so short stories (my hope is to write one per day to fulfill my 1,667 per day word requirement) about varying things. Each morning, I will randomly select a number between one and thirty and I will look at the corresponding list of first lines I will have. I will take that line and write a short story using it and then the next day I will do the process over again (some stories might relate to each other, some might not). Anyway I will edit the story for that day and post it here. It may not be posted exactly on the corresponding day, but in the end there will be thirty short stories. P.S. Although these are somewhat edited they are still rough drafts so please treat them as such.
