If you've always dreamed of becoming a police officer, there are a number of steps that you must complete before being hired. While it wasn't the easiest process, Benjamin Ambrosio, a New York City police officer for more than ten years, was more than happy to complete the process if it meant him landing his dream job. Many police agencies throughout the United States utilize a process that involves a number of steps that are conducted over a period of weeks or months. This is done in order to weed out undesirable candidates and identify recruits that have traits that are desirable to police work.

The first thing you must do is to fill out an application. While there are some police departments that accept applications on a revolving basis, many require applicants only apply to postings on specific jobs. Early on in the process, you will be expected to take and pass a civil service exam. These tests are designed to evaluate an applicant's verbal skills as well as their knowledge on specific job-related skills. You may have to complete a physical attributes test on the same day. This test is used to evaluate your general health and fitness.

If the background check doesn't turn up any information that would be an automatic disqualification, you will then be subject to undergoing a polygraph test. This is administered to assess the honesty of applicants. This is followed by a psychological examination by a psychologist and a physical examination, which can include a treadmill stress test and echocardiogram. If you happen to become one of the final selections, you will have to participate in an executive interview.

A Field of Dreamers by LeeMorin4

Our path into the college baseball recruiting experience started much like most other families in youth baseball: We knew nothing. What originally started out as an activity to play on the weekends with our sons and their friends, grew over the years into a lifestyle never expected. 19 years later, two of my sons have been successfully recruited to play college baseball, and my oldest has just completed his 3rd season of professional baseball. Baseball people have always told us that "If you can play the Game in high school - you can play the Game in college: It doesn't matter where you play. After watching my sons play baseball in Park City, Utah, where we average 411-inches of snow annually, I'd agree. Yet despite our own success, too many deserving high school players continue to fail in their own efforts to realize the same dream, and I believe this rate of failure is only due to a lack of education and perspective of the recruitment process itself - and what the player must do to prepare himself to become recruited for the next level of baseball. My family has been incredibly-blessed with the opportunities extended, and it's time to give back: I want to help other players realize their dream of playing college baseball too! Each year, over 24,000 high school baseball players attempt to become recruited to play college baseball, and if you took all the roster spots available (at every level), the odds of becoming recruited are as great as 7 of every 10 players. Although our story is indeed fictional, the recruiting steps contained within are real - and proven, and will help others become successfully recruited. Read my story, and learn the elements of recruitment: The supply and demand sides of college baseball; how to prepare to perform at a higher level; the best level of college baseball; and how to craft a successful, targeted recruitment strategy that saves you time and money - and lets YOU choose the best college baseball program for you!

20 parts Complete

When detective/profiler Michael B. Foxtrotter, an arrogant and narcissistic man, gets hired by the NYPD, he is instantly regarded as the best. Not necessarily the most liked. When Liam Barrett, a transfer from the 12th Precinct, is hired not long after him, Michael becomes jealous and suspicious. And maybe he has every right to be. Every encounter with Liam, Michael is torn between following his suspicions or just letting it go like his friend Guy Jenkins so desperately wants him to. But he doesn't. He digs and digs until he finds a box of old letters hidden in his office tying Liam to some dark secrets. Soon enough, Michael finds himself deep in things he feels like he shouldn't know. Throughout the course of his investigation, Michael will learn that there is one very important lesson they don't teach you at the academy. Trust no one.
