Teenager Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) is an extremely shy, but talented singer-songwriter who's dreams of stardom come true when she attends to a friend's Christmas Party and has fun dancing and participating in Karaoke with her sister Sarah Hart (Sarah Carpenter). But what she didn't notice was that her best friend Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) was taking a video. She then uploads it on YouTube without Maya or Sarah knowing and it gets over 29 million views! Riley tells them and they find out that the biggest record company in the world wants to sign her and her sister in singing.
