Vincent James is a nerd. Plain and simple. He only has one friend, Mac Harrison who has stuck with him through most of middle school and high school. So Vince is surprised when the popular girl, Elizabeth, befriends him and helps him with his problems at school as well as at home. Vincent's father is a drunk and beats his son for the littlest things. The two become close but Vincent is hesitant when Elizabeth tells him her feelings.
Elizabeth Baker's family has been broken for years and she feels a strange tie to Vincent when she finds out the real story about him. The conflict begins when Vincent still hurts over his last relationship and Elizabeth is forced to move on. Will Vincent reveal his true feelings?
