(Not Shira is pronounced shy-ear-a) When Shira, an extremely intelligent shy country girl from Oklahoma, goes too far when trying to impress the judges at her science fair and fails miserably on a live video upload that everyone in her school sees, she tries to create a time machine to go back in time and undo what went wrong at the science fair. However Shira ends up traveling back to December 16, 1863, and getting herself caught up in the civil war. As Shira is caught up in the blur and frenzy of both sides of the civil war, she meets an unusual boy named Daniel, who is from a southern slave holding family but doesn't believe that people should be slaves. Shira soon becomes more and more caught up in the war and falls in love with Daniel. But eventually Shira will have to make a choice that will destroy her off she chooses the wrong thing. Will Shira make the right choice or will she throw the the entire time line off scale?
