Sixteen year old Serena's family had always been... complicated. 

With an older sister who was barely home, little sister who was too young to understand the world yet, Mother who was busy running her bookstore and various errands and finally, a drunkard of a Father who challenged his own family, Serena had always found the strength and resilience to face any obstacle that came her way. That was her thing. 

Until that one night.

"Please... come down." Serena's voice was barely audible. It wasn't because of the roaring cold wind that surrounded her or the noises the vehicles made from afar. 

It was fear.

"Why? I see don't see a point. Everyone hates me." He laughed comically.

"That's not true. Please... just- please just get down, I'm begging you."

"Then tell me, whom do you love more? Her or me?"

"Let's... let's talk about that after you get down. Please get down." Serena swallowed hard.

"Me or her?"

"You."

He laughed comically again. "Nice try, but I know how obligation and tricks work."

One hour, one turn and one jolt on a cold night were all it took. Serena knew nothing would ever be the same again.
