My name is Delancy. I volunteered to join the Hunger Games. Now I regret it.

Fourteen-year-old Delancy Lesyk is the girl who was forced to volunteer in the reaping for District 7. She was the girl who had lived a life wherein she has to become extraordinary to accomplish anything. She was the girl who had experienced whole day trainings for the past eight years of her life, making her sound strong. But truth is, she's not. She may be physically ready, but she's not ready for the challenges coming. She may be prepared to fight, but she is actually scared and nervous on the inside.

Right from the start, she knew that she wouldn't survive. Not when she just saw that girl from district 5 wrestle a man twice her size. But despite all this, there's something inside of her that is urging her to do everything she can to win. Will she follow it, even if she doesn't know that she can?

Like all children in his world, 14-year-old Finnick Odair had the chance of being chosen for the Hunger Games. In a pool stock full of names, he was just as vulnerable as anyone from the ages of 12-18. And in District Four, which often tends to produce Career tributes, its residents could only hope that this year's pair would fall under that description. On Reaping day, a 14-year-old boy's name is called. A name that is often whispered down the hallways of the local high school, giggled at, fawned over. The gasps that arose afterwards were monumental. Him, of all people? It couldn't be, could it? Yet it was. At age 14, Finnick Odair was called forth to be a tribute in the 65th annual Hunger Games. Many stood there and thought, "He's just a pretty face. How could he possibly bring home the victor's crown?" However, some people are far more than a pretty face.
