After three years since moving in with Doran and having made some new friends, both human and scaly, Carly makes her own mark in the Tamer world. Frain, her faithful companion, takes her on another journey to open up her knowledge of Carnezia. On a re-visit to Itra, Ky comes back into her life and her beloved shop turns up a storm. Mysterious fires take them further west where the people are unaware of dragons. All of this makes it harder to travel and keeping out of trouble is becoming more and more difficult.

In the first time in millennia the Elder Dragons were afraid. They were driven to near extinction, until they retreated from this earth, and flew away, lost, leaving their cousins, the dragons, behind. But one remains. She doesn't know the secrets of her race, the secrets of the world she finds herself in.
