Akila, an orphan, has endured the pain, the loss, the abuse, the use ... Every foster home has treated her like she is worth nothing, and after awhile her social service agent sends her somewhere else. Ruth Johnson, her new guardian. She shows hope for this lost girl and even teaches her of God, a new hope for her, but she doesn't know enough to have much faith. After meeting a mysterious guy in a place Akila would never suspect, her hiding place in the magical looking forest. Things start turning good in her life, but if only she knew it was temporary. Things are after her, something she knows nothing of. She sees shadows in her room, when the lights are on, she hears sounds when she's home alone, she feels a strange presence around her. Akila does not know what's going on, but Ruth does and so does her mystery guy, kind of. Now she has to cling to God harder than before before her mother's last words repeat themselves in her, only if she falls into the dark side. As her mother said, so clearly for the last time, "Call Me Lost, Child."

Seraphine grew up under the watchful eye of her father, a retired Navy SEAL, a man of discipline, strength, and unshakable love. Her mother was a ghost story, a woman who vanished when Seraphine was just a baby. All she's ever known is that her father raised her to fight, to create, and to survive. But everything changes with a single phone call at 2 a.m. His voice is urgent. Afraid. He gives her instructions for a hidden safe in their secluded cabin, just before the line goes dead with the sound of a door splintering...and something inhuman roaring on the other end. By the time Seraphine reaches her fathers house in the suburbs, it's in ruins. Blood stains the floor. And when a monstrous intruder emerges from the shadows wielding impossible magic, the life she thought she knew unravels in an instant. In the chaos, something long buried inside her awakens saving her even as it nearly destroys her. When she wakes, she is no longer in her world, but caught in the crossfire of an ancient war between angels and demons. Her family's secrets run deeper than she ever imagined. She knows that no mater what she learns though...finding her family is all that matters to her.
