Well, at least that's what Skylar Roberts thought, and her past didn't prove any differently.
She hasn't had the best experience down the road of life and she had learned a long time ago that it's much easier to go through life with no expectations and a closed off heart, not giving a flying fuck about what anyone else thinks of you.
She never believed that there would be anything more to her life, nothing to look forward to or a light at the end of the tunnel. This is it. And nothing could change that.
But once she meets a certain messy-haired boy, things seem to change, boundaries being pushed and secrets being leaked. But despite all he does for her, it doesn't change her opinion. Life is, and always will be, a meaningless cycle.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. That's what they told us when she died, but no one ever questioned the reason. It was always, overdose, a suicide, case closed. The first few weeks go great, but she suspects something strange in her bedroom. But when the enemy, the Foreshadowed somehow get their hands on her, her family secrets crawl out and reveal a power she has no idea existed. The man tells her his name finally but he also reveals a dark horrible secret from his past which traumatized him for years, then she feels like she's actually falling in love with him. He knows everything about her, the reason she became human, the two powers she could have, the truth of how her father died. He begins to protect her life with his own.
