Max just broke up with his girlfriend. He seems happier now, to Charlotte anyway. Lottie, Charlotte, has been Max's friend since they were little. Lottie knows when Max isn't happy and she can tell that he's happy now.
Max graduates at the end of the school year while Lottie has to stay for another two years. All Lottie wants to do is go on adventures, trying to live her life to the fullest, and Max would follow her anywhere.
Lottie's mom went missing when Lottie was at her very first day of kindergarten. Lottie still has hopes that her mom will show up again so she writes in a leather bound book when something adventurous happens so her mom will be able to what's happened since she was gone.
