The Grove

Lauren Shmit was the unusual type. She was the one who explored creepy forests at night, always had the best ghost stories to tell, and was always looking for somewhere new to explore. Sometimes, she was appreciated for it. Most of the time though, she was teased, and bullied, and even sent home due to her "overactive imagination." Her parents found it best, that they move to Florida. Sunny, beachy, and fun. Lauren wasn't very exited. She tried to make the best of it, but couldn't find anything interesting in sunny old Florida. Until she discovers The Grove. A magical place where it rains when it's sunny, where the trees wave hello to you when you walk by, and where anything and anyone knows your name. Located in the very very back of her neighborhood, Lauren is the only one who knew that the Grove is more than just a cluster of trees, like everyone else says. Or so she thought. One other "person" knew of The Grove. And it's dark secrets. They tell Lauren that The Grove has many rules you must follow, in order to survive.
1. Never walk in the dark alone.
2. You must leave The Grove before sundown.
3. Don't trust anyone, no matter how sweet or nice they are.
And 4. Never let the Gates of The Grove close before you leave.
At first, Lauren follows the rules perfectly. Until one night. She's invited to a slumber party. How could anyone refuse? What could go wrong anyway?
Lauren soon finds out,
That once the gates of The Grove close before you leave,
They close,
Forever.
