The bombs and radiations came soon afterwards and everyone was dying. When Dr. Kelsen created the serum known as Toxumulnaz it was a miracle.

Toxumulnaz made it so people could breathe the air easily, so the radiation would not affect us, so we would need little water. However, some people didn't like the serum or the subjects it was given to, believing that if they were meant to die nothing would stand in their way.

The serum was destroyed and soon people started going after the subjects. The subjects blood were genetically altered so they rarely got sick, they wouldn't contract any fatal disease, they healed incredibly quick. Their blood was soon more valuable then anything else in the world.

The serum advanced and changed the subjects even more as they were slaughtered. Their aging slowed down so they were still in their prime if attacked, they healed much quicker, especially to the point of danger and it increased the flight method in the fight or flight syndrome.
