It's the year 2149.

Earth is dying, the atmosphere is becoming impossible to breathe in, and most hope is lost. Most.

Flora Goldman is seventeen years old, struggling to surrvive on earth. Her whole family is dead. She lives on her own in a small apartment, gathering scarce food and water supplies when she can.

At Hope Plaza, a huge ring-shaped structure in Chicago, scientists have discovered a rift in space in time, which allows people to step through and travel 85 million years back in time, the time of the prehistoric earth. Every now and then, certain people are chosen or pay to travel through the rift on a pilgrimage. The rift was taken as a sign; a sign of destiny; a sign for the human race to start afresh.

When Flora is chosen, how will she cope with the change? Who will she meet? What will happen?

I felt my heart beat speed up as I walked through the corridor and towards my future. I held my breath as I stopped in front of the door and waited for entry inside. Soon the door opened and I slowly walked inside to see six Vulcan's looking down at me. I bowed my head and waited for them to speak. "Maria, youngest to ever apply for the Vulcan Science Academy." He said calmly. "You are... fifteen and believe you have what it takes to join." Another said calmly. "It is only logical for you to join of course. I must say you have made much progress, even with your disadvantage." "And what disadvantage would you be implying?" I asked calmly. "Your half breed of a father, of course." He said as he looked down at me. "Ministers, I must decline." I said softly. "Why did you come to only decline? Was it to satisfy your need to rebel?" "No, I had wanted to join, but I can not join a race that is so cruel and prejudice that they think it is a disadvantage to feel, good day ministers." I said as I turned and walked out of the room. I stopped at the door and turned and sent them a smile. "Live long and prosper." I said before I turned and walked away. I made my way to my house and let out a sigh as I saw my mother waiting outside. I walked up to her and went to talk, only to be met with a hard smack to the face. "How dare you disrespect your father!?" She yelled. "I only did what I believed was right." "You have tainted our name! Go back to them and beg for forgiveness!" "No! I will not beg them for anything! I am not a child mother and I will not be treated as such. I did what I thought right, and you must learn to live with that." "Either apologize or leave, I don't want your father here to see what a disappointment you are." "Fine, I'll do what you ask." I said as I turned and walked away. I felt tears threaten to stream down my face as I walked away from the only home I had ever known.

|AMBYS 2024 GRAND FAVORITE! · SERIALIZED STORY · ACT I OF THROUGH THE WORMHOLE| |19X FEATURED| Daniel Matton wasn't ready for an adventure, not until 3025 sent him into space on a journey to prehistoric times. The prehistoric animals test his patience, but Dan must endure all the pain and suffering to return home safely. *** Seventeen-year-old Daniel Matton, still grieving after his mother's death five years ago, is given the adventure of a lifetime when he's selected as the Star of 3025's PPMC Project for a journey through a black hole, wormhole, and white hole to prehistoric times. Now, does Dan want to be the Star? Heck no, but he has loved paleontology ever since a bittersweet memory with his mom twelve years earlier. Programmed to resemble Dan's mother's personality, PPMC vows to keep him safe on his journey, but it's difficult when the stubborn teen constantly gets in trouble, not just with himself but also with prehistoric anomalies: volcanic eruptions, eight-foot-long millipedes, terrifying saber-toothed cats, and, above all, disaster. Now nearly trapped in time, Dan and PPMC must work together to escape the geologic time scale before Dan's love for paleontology and the mighty Quetzalcoatlus prevent him from learning how to truly trust PPMC and "let go" of the burden that's weighed him down for five years. A teen, a starship, and Becca... Have you ever wanted to see where life first began? *** *Moral: Accept where you belong.* JUDGES AND REVIEWERS! The world of Through the Wormhole is enormous, and I cannot touch on every nook and cranny of it in merely five chapters. Please keep that in mind. Be patient with Dan, too, please. He lost five years of rearing after his mother died and is supposed to be immature. Word Count: 20,000-30,000

Rise of Ancients: The Sample

6 parts Complete

An ancient force, imprisoned for two millennium, has been unleashed. Now the world hangs in the balance as two hearts collide to save the ones they love. Can humanity rise above, or will it plummet into ruin? This is a sample of my completed book that is set to release late 2022. __________________________________________________________________________________ "We need to wait for the rest of the team to get here. Just because we opened up the lab doesn't mean we can start opening up the artifact." Jeremy chuckled and wrapped his arms around Melissa. "In a few hours, they'll get here, and we can do that. Until then, let's hold off." She gave him an annoyed look. "Fine. But the second they're here, we're cracking open this piñata." She leaned her head back to rest against his shoulder. Jeremy tilted her face and kissed her softly. They both smiled and looked back at the artifact before them. Enjoying the sensation of Melissa's fingers gently running along his arms, he studied the sarcophagus. This was an odd piece, but something different was bound to resurface eventually. Sifting over the etchings, he tried to make sense of the story upon the stone. The smile left his face. "Those shouldn't be there."
