10 year old, Susan Elletson has grown up living in an orphanage while the rest of her siblings live in what she thinks is paradise. She has just heard the news, that the only person she could ever grow a healthy relationship with, has just killed herself. Susan then has to face the patron and other teachers, as they all want to know more about Martha Darrel. Susan struggles to even bring up her name and finds herself in numerous uncomfortable situations including the reunion with her siblings.
