After her mother ends up in the ICU, Kate Powers finds herself visiting the local hospital more and more often. The funny thing is, pretty soon she doesn't go to see her comatose mother anymore, instead, she is visiting the group of children (and the boy with no name) who seem to have created their own family together in one of the waiting rooms of the hospital. But something isn't right about this. Nothing ever goes right in Kate's life, and pretty soon her homemade family falls apart just like everything else has.
