This is not the usual story of a dethroned monarch. Unlike all of her fabled counterparts, Hazel of Cordesia was not usurped without good cause. After being made Queen at age fourteen, it quickly became obvious that she lacked both the maturity and the grace to rule. After a terrible mistake in foreign policy, her supporting nobles come together to subsequently overthrow her. At first, Hazel is desperate to make her way back to her kingdom and reclaim it- until she falls in love with a little blooming city nearby, ruled by democracy. Meanwhile, her own homeland slowly falls into the clutches of a brutal oligarchy, and her happiness is interrupted when a mysterious rider comes and offers to help reinstate her as Queen. Hazel quickly finds herself torn between the person she wants to be and the person her people need her to be.

Exiled from her own land - to be executed if she ever returns, Princess Alexandra finds herself turning a spy for the enemy. Because, well, they impress her. Especially the splendid emperor, who is indebted to Alexandra for a number of things he wouldn't tell. She doesn't mind that - because life just turns a lot more colorful outside the Palace walls - until one (not so) fine day, she realizes that the emperor no longer *only* impresses her. Unfortunately, the course of true love never runs smooth. And before she can even give herself a chance with Liam, Alexandra has to sort a few things out. Namely, all the mistakes the previous generation did. **The story starts from 339 B.C. but language used is completely modern because I don't know Ancient Greek**
