Naya has grown up on the streets of Ventralli's capital city, Rintiero. She hasn't lived a terrible life, but she dreams to boost her status and become a lady of the court. 

Just when Naya thinks her chance at elevation has come, strangers from other kingdoms visit Ventralli, and Naya isn't the only one who can tell trouble is brewing in the court. She senses there's unease growing in her peaceful kingdom, and now, allying herself with a court guard, she's determined to find out what it is. 

What starts off as Naya's desperate attempt to save her status develops into a full-on struggle to keep her kingdom from going into open war. And when that fails... Naya doesn't want to have to fight for a kingdom where she's always been a peasant, but what other choice will she have?
