It was winter. The entire landscape was white, covered with a blanket, soft and cold. Trees had branches curved under the weight of the snow that was staying above them. We are staying somewhere at the start of the forest and the beginning of the mountain. Behind the massive, old trees or young and thin trees, a majestic mountain was raising, seeming to protect the forest from any threat. Sun was spreading a blinding light across the valley before it could reach the forest. When rays touched the snow, they got the look of small crystals that, together, were decorating the entire area. The sky turned from a blue faded to gray into a pale azure on which clouds were spreading all along it.
Small steps seemed to lead to a female coyote. It was moving pretty fast, with tail wagging left-right constantly with every step she was making. In her eyes a spark of fear could get observed, as she was gazing every bush and every rock. In her mouth, a small pup, all black with lighter hints across its back, neck and belly. It was whining because of the cold that was everywhere and because of the uncomfortable position it was staying. The pup could feel its mother fear, that made him wander what was actually happening. When the speed got intensified, a small flock of ravens flied away, scared of the carnivore.
Behind, barks that grew louder and louder. Fur was herd how it rubbed across any tree's bark and heavy steps that were digging in the snow. The sky had now its usual color of a nice smooth blue. The coyote female twitched her right ear as she got even more scared and with the noises made by the pup, she knew she will get caught soon. Then, she made a crazy decision. Her slender body entered enough in a dense bush, to hide the pup. After, with tail raised easily, with a violent move, the coyote turned to battle her opponents.
Three males. All, except a silver one, had brownish fur. The coyote send a growl, followed by a snarl as she tried not to show fear...
"I said look at me," he growled as he grabbed my arm from the Gamma in a vice grip. I winced and finally looked up to his stunning grey eyes.
'Mate!' my wolf yipped happily, although she was very weak she got to sound very excited, but I didn't. I didn't want a mate, one that I am putting in danger. Those people said they would find me no matter where I ran to, I couldn't put my mate or his pack in danger. My wolf whimpered knowing it was the truth.
"Kitten," my mate purred, before he growled, "mine!" softly as he let go of my arm and lightly touched my cheek, now I felt the sparks firing on my skin. 'Kitten? Was this guy for real?! Did it look like I had whiskers and meowed?' I mentally scolded at him.
