Emily Clarke never had a perfect life, and it's never going to turn into one. She never lets people in, for the fear of having them ripped from her, just like her family. Her long time friend, and landlord, Ian, is forcing her to move out. He found her a house, and offered it to her. She now moved to this town she's never heard of, Storybrooke, and has to start over. There, she meets a cop that makes her blush every second, and a neighbor that has something in store for her. When she arrives, however, no one is who they seem to be. Only when a there's twisted turn of events, does Emily realize what's really happening.
