Elizabeth Carter lost her father in an unfortunate event at the age of 21. Ever since then, Elizabeth promised to herself to not love another soul again, for she believes love only brings pain and misfortune. She dropped out of art school since she could not pay her tuition fees. Elizabeth rented a small apartment at Oak Street and became a full-time waitress in an Italian restaurant for two years. Age 23, she successfully started a gallery of her own. She was finally having her old life back. Except, her father was no longer in the picture anymore. Elizabeth continued to keep her not-to-love-again promise. But she slowly breaks this promise into pieces when she meets Nicholas Anderson, a 26-year-old engineer.
