Colin has been in Madeline's class since the third grade. She was strange really; She liked to play in the dirt and talk to frogs and other creatures she found out on the playground. She was as tough as nails and would do the dangerous dares the other boys were dared to do but were too scared to, but cried whenever a wasp was killed by a swatting newspaper in class. The other kids thought she was weird, and she didn't have a single friend (unless you count the frogs and lizards and wasps and spiders). But Colin was always fascinated with Madeline. He always quietly observed her, and he secretly enjoyed her wild frizzy curly red hair and and freckled face, her spontaneous attitude, and her kind heart. He liked her, her really did, but she never even noticed him. One day, right before the start of sixth grade, she moves out of town. No one knew where she went, no one knew why, she was just gone. Gradually, everyone forgot about her: But not Colin. Colin waited, he waited for three years. By eight grade, he gave up. She was still in the back of his mind, but he was starting to forget... Until the beginning of high school, ninth grade, when she magically reappears, better than ever. All the girls envy her, all the guys fall for her. The whole school falls in love with the new Madeline, as well as Colin, her secret lover since third grade.
