21 year old Angela (Angie) Blake suddenly becomes the "mother" of a 12 year old girl named Kiani and she doesn't have much of a choice when it comes to whether or not the girl stays with her. Well, when the time comes for it to be Kiani's 13th birthday, everything gets turned upside down. Angie learns who the mysterious young girl is, why she showed up on her front porch one summer day, and most importantly, who the girls real parents are. Unfortunately, things aren't going well where Kiani is from. Both her and Angie end up in a position no one ever wants to be in... fighting for their lives, especially when Angie falls in love with the wrong person, and makes everything worse for Kiani.
