Dreams, Dances, and Whispering Trees

This is one chapter of a fiction piece I am working on about a teenage girl who has and recovers from reconstructive jaw surgery. It is based on some of my personal experiences, but there are many fictional elements to the story. Rachel, the main character, recovers from the trauma of the surgery, the bullying she experienced before it, and the aftermath largely through reading and drawing comics and the relationships that result from these practices. I claim all rights to the characters and the story.
