Resonant Flux

Earth, year 2182.

We were never alone as the superior species on this planet. Hell, we were never the superior species on Earth. We were sorely mistaken.

It was them.

The Remnants.

A disease, an organism, that genetically changes any non-human DNA into something primal. Destructive. Virtually immortal. Hidden in ancient tombs, burial sites, and vaults.

And they appeared as the world was ripping itself apart in a war that eclipsed the devastation of the world wars by nearly a billion deaths.

Russia fell first. The US and European Union held out longest.

They came. We saw. They conquered.

The only successful weapon found against them is Flux, a power source used to generate weapons, armor, and equipment to destroy the Remnants.

Which we humans used to kill each other first.

Humans have retreated to their last strongholds.

Humanity will rise.

Blood will be spilt.

This is the challenge of survival of the fittest.
