When The Clock Stops

In the fictional world at one point most people have the first encounter with their soulmate. Some at first glance know the other's fate is entwined with theirs. Others won't know until the end.

In this reality unless they intentionally prevent it, by even the slightest look downwards to their hand they will know the exact moment they first meet their soulmate.

When each individual is born they receive a timer that is not identical to any other expect for their fated match.

When the timer is close to reaching zero, some say something similar to a sixth sense guides them to perform certain actions like going a certain direction or looking a certain way.

But sometimes the knowledge of their destined partner excites them and accidents occur. Other times their clock just stops leaving you with the knowledge that your fated partner has died, and without even knowing that person they become depressed, and as everyone around them gets to experience the happiest day of their lives they know that their special day will never come.
