TRUST NO ONE. KEEP MOVING. STAY ALIVE.
When the outbreak came and the dead walked Jo and her family promised one another to survive no matter what. Months of running did nothing but take the people Jo loved. Now all that's left are Jo and her sister and it's up to her to keep them both safe.
When her sister becomes ill they are picked up by a group who claim to want to help them. Their leader, Rick, was a police officer and refuses to leave them behind. The others are eager to welcome them into the fold but Jo finds herself holding back, hesitant to trust anyone. The longer she stays with the group the closer she finds herself coming to Daryl in particular. Jo wants desperately to keep her and her sister safe, and trust is not something easily earned or given in this new world. And Jo will be forced to learn the hard way it's not just the dead that should be feared.
I don't own/have any rights to TWD or its characters, scenes etc. Just my new characters and scenarios. Please don't plagiarize - Jo is mine.
I have changed a few things, but tried to stay true to the original characters. This story starts in season one and will follow the story line of the TV show all the way through with the addition of original scenes.

Daryl Dixon is completely on his own. After the Saviors burn down Alexandria, he thinks that he is the only survivor. Living without the group that he has come to love, has left him as nothing more than a shell of the man he used to be. One day after a brutal fight, he stumbles upon a run-down shack in the woods. As he lay dying on the dirty floor, his life is saved by a complete stranger. These two loners find that living life together is so much better than doing it alone. I haven't written a story in the first person since Broken. It's not as easy as it sounds, but I enjoyed the challenge. This story has taken me months to write and I finished it just days after the Season 8 midseason finale. Any similarities to that episode are pure coincidence. I wrote the chapter (You'll know which one) months before Season8 even started. For anyone that is newly following me or reading my books, I write differently than most.
