Book One Of The Lumiere Chronicles "This will hurt you more than it hurts me, my dark flower." He grinned as he sharpened his sword. Celestina Harper, mostly called Celest, was born into a kingdom where killing was more important than breathing. She worked in the Isotela Palace for the king and queen as their guard, but secretly trained as an assassin, who found pleasure in ruthlessly ripping out the hearts of many victims who were the enemies of a secret, large clan. The clan was interested in Celest after they gained knowledge about a 17 year old girl who was on an untamable rampage, forming high voltages of lighting with her hands, sending shocks to the nervous systems of persons who she touched, paralyzing them and eventually killed them. They took her out of the mental institution and made her apply for a job at the palace in order for her to kill the royals. Her life went down hill when the clan insisted that she had to kill a young boy who she was secretly dating . She also had to kill a mysterious boy with odd evil green eyes. But under his captivating and addictive face, he seemed untrustworthy but Celest was strangely attracted to him.

The blade of my hidden knife stops just a few centimetres from the prince's warm skin of his neck. He lays there, eyes closed and rhythmic breathing. His defined jaw relaxed and his teeth barely showing behind his pink lips. I hear voices coming from the hallway. I glance up at the door then back to the sleeping Prince. The door handle rattles, the guards yell from behind the wall. I bite my lip, balancing the blade just on the skin of the prince's neck. The door bursts open just as I slip out of the bedroom window into the cool midnight, no evidence of my attempt to assassinate the prince. ~~~~~~~~~~ Trained Assassin, skilled in over 4 martial arts, specialised in weaponry and one on one combat... And I couldn't kill the prince. So my question is, what stopped me? ____________________________________ "My chest literally hurts.
