"Oh, uh. What do you have?"
"I have..." He reaches for his backpack. "Half a bottle of wine, some bourbon, few cans of beer..."
"Oh uh- Sorry but I'm not much of a drinker."
"Suit yerself." He takes a heavy swig from the wine.
Silence.
"So tell me," he asks. "How'd
you make it here?"
"Hm?"
"You seem pretty young to survive this storm alone. Tell me about it."
"Oh. Like how I made it this far?"
"Christ, you've got cotton in your ears? Yes, how you made it this far."
"Yeah, let me think. So..."

Black Eyes To Blue
Originally a backstory for a D&D Character that got just a little bit out of hand with length and detail, its now morphed itself into a full blown Novella. Its the most effort I have ever put into any creative project in my life. I hope you enjoy it! This is the story of a twenty year old human man, Mardston, as he takes his first steps along the path to becoming a true warrior. Trained as a blacksmith as a child by his adopted dwarven family, and then as a Mercenary Soldier as a young man. Happy where he was in life as a traveling sellsword, he had it all torn away when his first experience with a deadly battle, was a massacre that saw all 500 of his companions cut down in a manner of minutes. Walking away from the engagement by being judged by his enemies as the most mentally weak, and therefore chosen as the designated survivor to go tell the tale of what happens to those who intrude in their woods. Completely alone, with no purpose, no living friends, and no desire to work as the one thing he was trained to do. Mardston starts his journey to becoming a warrior at the bottom of a bottle. Where he is singled out for the most mundane of reasons by a strange young elven woman with unnatural abilities, who chooses him to accompany her on her journey. A journey where she begins the path to learning what it means to be a Hero to those who need saving, and where he stands fast and fights to protect her and keep her safe from all who wish her harm. While the two of them together venture forth to find their new places in a world that has no need of them as they were. - While editing, I noticed that I didn't describe Mardstons physical description well. Jamming it in now, results in awkward and clunky exposition. So I will just write it here even more awkwardly. Mardston stands at 6'2" tall, weighing in at 350 lbs. Built like a bodybuilder from a childhood of keeping up with dwarves, he stands with more than twice the mass and strength of your average human warrior.Completa

But everything goes horribly wrong when there is a break in, and the 'perfect human formula' is unintentionally tested before it is ready. The result, is a nightmare of a human. A zombie. After killing all the scientists, it escapes into the city, throwing the large town in to full-blown apocalypse. The White Fox
The white fox will destroy the werewolf world. It's a legend that every wolf knows. We never hunt white foxes for fear it will be the one in the legend. If a white fox burrows in your territory, it's a sign of bad luck. We all run from white foxes. We were told as pups that if we were bad, the white fox would come to our pack, and the next day, our pack would have never existed. There are laws from the elders that if we find the white fox (not that anyone wants to or will), we were to hand it over immediately. We were not to engage in conversation with it or interact with it at all. So we never expected her to come so peacefully... | "What do you want from me?" I exclaimed. He stopped walking and laughed. "You stupid fuck. I want you to stop fighting me. I want you to shut up and do what I say." He grabbed me again. My muscles tensed and I tasted blood in my mouth. My pupils were dilated. He dragged me to the kitchen again and grabbed my cup that was still on the table. "Drink. It." I grabbed the glass and took a sip. His nose crinkled. "No. Down it. Drink the whole thing." I down it and coughed again. It was so bitter and I recoiled. My head spun and I felt like I was going to throw up. I held my head and closed my eyes. The world spun so much faster when I closed my eyes. He held me under my chin. "Listen. You pissed off a powerful man while you were gone. He wants you and I'm not giving you without a price. My mind scrambling to process what had happened as I felt rubble falling around me, surrounding me in darkness. I reached up, my arm stinging as I hit the hard wood table over me, which was keeping the rubble off me, miraculously. I wiped my forehead, sweat, and probably blood dripping down my arm and side of head as I reached for a nearby rock, trying to push on it, hoping that it might help me out of this disaster. "Mom? Betty?" I called, hoping for a response, only to get none. I didn't even get the slightest whimper from any of them. What the heck happened? "Mom?! Betty?!" I screamed this time, trying to push myself up onto my back, my leg killing me so much that I had to give up. I laid back down on the ground, placing my hand on the bottom of the table; anger, fear, confusion getting the best of me. I screamed as I banged my fists on the wood table. "MOM? BETTY?" Nothing. I was ready to bang on the wood again, but I flinched back when I heard the sound of moving rubble. Whoever it is was almost near where I was, and ... moving quickly. So, there's no possible way that it was a human. It would take hundreds do men to lift these boulders, but whoever this person is, is stronger than anyone I would kn- My thoughts froze as I watched something large wrap around the edges of the table, lifting it up; my eyes widening as I came face to face with the largest creature known to mankind.
