When she recovers, she finds she has telekinetic powers. She can move things with her mind: she can start cars, levitate objects, and send bad guys flying out of windows. Sending bad guys flying out of windows turns out to be a useful skill. Someone wants to examine and exploit the abilities Nick and Lynsey developed when they recuperated. Before they got sick, Nick and Lynsey were unaware of each other's existences. Now that they know each other, they wish they were still aware of each other's existences. But when you don't know who to trust or where to call home, even the most unheroic people can become heroes.
