When Leo makes his way back from Ogygia with Calypso, his plan to get home faster fails to take them back to Camp Half Blood, it instead takes them to Middle Earth, where there's a great dragon who lives in a castle in the Lonely Mountain, and a small Hobbit who has an obsession with a golden ring.

For this elf, Malachi, is the first-born son of Thranduil but he was cast out into the darkness.
