In this short story, Cadence, a fun
hometown girl has her life changed
when she is forced to move away from
her home in Portage, Indiana, to Crown
Point, Indiana. Crown Point did not
seem to have much to offer, but Cadence
wanted to make the most of it. She
admitted to her new bestie, Alyssa, that
she was having a difficult time fitting in.
As Aly guides her around the school,
Cadence eventually sees HIM-as in Trey
Walker-and she knew that he was
unmistakably the cutest guy in her
school by far. Unfortunately, Lila
Stratton, her worst enemy, had taken an
interest in Trey too. Cadence notices and
realizes it is now or never...

For Cadence Myers, you're not a true friend unless you're a book. To her, all people did was lie to you and waste your time. And by her sixteenth birthday, she had had enough of it. With a workaholic as a mom and a dad who is behind bars, she wonders why she has no social skills. Not that she's lonely or anything. She's not. Honest. She's perfectly fine. Anyway, why need friends if people like Dakota Black exist? Arrogant and as careless as he is annoying, Cadence wants nothing to do with the cocky male specimen. So what if he needs help passing almost three of his classes. That's his fault. So what if the good in her kind of wants to help him. She'll just have to ignore it. And so what if she kind of agreed to help him, failing to ignore her good side. Nothing would happen between the two of them. And so what if he's attractive. She was perfectly okay with eating lunch with her books in the library in the far corner alone. That was fine by her. So what if she might've wanted at least one friend in her over prestigious boarding school. She was the quiet girl. She was the nobody. No one would want to be her friend anyway. And so what if Dakota Black kind of stole her heart along the way. Guys like him were just here to waste your time. Right? And so what if he made her so angry she could spit and so flushed you couldn't tell the difference between her and a tomato? So what if he was the only one that truly understood her and was pretty much her saving grace? And so what if he was, quite possibly, the love of her life? It didn't matter. It was just the effect that came with associating yourself with Dakota Black. And it didn't matter that when they were together, they became something more. They became Extraordinary. The Invisible Best Friends
Meet Alyssa Bent, she's a nerd. But not your typical one. She likes to read, but her world doesn't totally revolve around books. She's not shy nor does she stutter when someone tries to corner her. She can stand up to anyone provided it doesn't involve attention. Attention is the only thing that scares her, and like always, there's a reason behind it. Maintaining a balance of grades and producing comebacks with sarcasm dripping from each word isn't the only talent she possesses. Enter Aaron Pelt, the most popular boy at Gradient High. Girls fawn over him. Well, who wouldn't? He's the star soccer player, after all. With the looks no less than a model, he has no problem maintaining his status on the social ladder. He maintains a cool aura around him all the time. They both go to Gradient High, a school that is divided into two social groups: the popular ones and the nerds. The popular ones are the wealthy snobs and the nerds are the ones who practically are their slaves. At Gradient High, these two groups can never get along! Like Ever! But who knew that the most popular guy and the nerd would actually be best friends? That's right! Alyssa and Aaron have been best friends since their diaper days. But at school, they are forced not to acknowledge each other's presence because if they did, Aaron's reputation might suffer and Alyssa may be subjected to something she hates the most: attention. While Aaron may not know, the reason why Alyssa hates attention might be even more than she lets him believe. A reason that might even force her to throw away her future dream. So will Aaron be able to break through the walls and push her out even when he has the pressure of popularity and the school status weighing him down? Get ready to expect the unexpected. Calling him tall dark and handsome would be the understatement of the century. He is the arrogant quarterback and one of the most popular guys in shcool. He is as I mention previously the reincarnation of the devil in his actions and a Greek God in the looks department, with startling blue eyes, a sinful body and gorgeous hair, who may at different times define the words Cocky and Adorable. Quite a contrast isn't it? Well that's who he is, or for that matter how we all are... a bit of both. Ashton Fobes is Alli's bestfriend, well Ex-Bestfriend, he is also her arch nemisis, her sworn enemy, but he is also the only one who can make her push her limits and challenge her in ways she never thought possible. Soon they were playing with Cupid's arrows trying to set up the unlikeliest couple imaginable, but what they seemed to have forgotten was Fate's wierd sense of humor and so it turned out while they were playing with Cupid's Arrows, he was aiming them at these two instead. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. During a few rocky hook ups, Cadence and Austin both learn that he's a submissive man in the bedroom and she, conveniently, is a dominant woman. Neither have ever explored this side of themselves but, they're more than excited to test their own, and each other's, limits. Neither Cadence nor Austin ever expected they would catch feelings through these exciting evenings together, though, which complicates the strict rules Cadence has placed on their arrangement.
