Growing Pains | Tyler Joseph's Sister

Tyler Robert Joseph grew up in the sleepy suburbs of Columbus, Ohio with his little sister, Ava; a place where the quiet has a nasty habit of crushing the life out of both souls and dreams. Luckily, Tyler has a knack for shielding his sister from the absence of everything by filling the cracks of silence with sound and distraction. After he forms the band "Twenty One Pilots" with his childhood best friend, Joshua Dun, the neighborhood is never drained of color.

However, as Tyler and Josh's band begins to gain traction outside of their hometown, Ava notices that their presence in her life is slowly disappearing. Although she is proud of Twenty One Pilots' newfound fame, she starts to develop pains from their growth as the silence seeps into her bones.

Only when Ava has the opportunity to travel with her brother for a leg of the band's first big headlining tour does she begin to understand that the polished stages where Tyler now screams in front of thousands of people to just "listen" will never compare to the broken place he found purpose.
